Katie DiRe

Katie began dancing at the age of 4. When she was 6, she fell in love with the sight of beautiful ballet dancers and made the decision that she wanted to be a ballerina. Katie trained in classical ballet for 10 years at Pacific Northwest Ballet School and had additional training from Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School.

Through her classical ballet training, she also trained in modern, jazz, Spanish, and many other forms of dance from world-renowned instructors. Her training with PNBS and PBTS gave her the opportunity to perform for 7 years in the Kent Stowell PNB production of The Nutcracker, as well as Coppelia, A Midsummer's Nights Dream, Romeo and Juliet, and much more.

Katie attended Western Washington University where she continued to take classical ballet classes under the direction of Cher Carnell. After receiving her bachelor's degree, Katie went on to get her Master in Teaching degree from the University of Washington.

While attending graduate school, she taught dance classes at an awarding winning school, Elizabeth's Dance Dimensions. Katie focused on teaching tap, ballet, and jazz to students ages 2 to adult. Upon receiving her master's degree Katie took some time off from teaching dance classes to teach 1st grade for 3 years in Everett, Washington.

Katie moved to San Diego in June of 2007 to support her husband with his career and is excited to start teaching dance classes again and be a part of North County Dance Arts.
