Julie Kenyon

Julie was born in England and danced in her first recital at age three. Her formal training began in England with Joyce King during which time she passed the R.A.D. board examinations with honors. After training at the Royal Ballet School, she continued her studies at the Italia Conti Stage School in London, specializing in cechetti, character dance, musical theatre, acting and singing. Julie also trained in international ballroom dance with Eve Tynegate-Smith and holds the bronze, silver and gold medal status in ballroom and tap.

Her career path has taken her to France, Spain, Italy and Scandinavia and she was a principal dancer in the “Folies Bergeres” in Las Vegas. Julie had appeared in several movies, T.V. specials and commercials and has had the pleasure of working with Elvis Presley, Bob Hope, Juliet Prowse, Sonja Henie and Elizabeth Taylor.
Julie has been teaching Adult/Teen ballet in San Diego for twelve years and has recently added ballroom dance to her agenda. Continued studies include annual Teachers’ Workshops at City Ballet with David Howard and with Finis Jhung in Los Angeles.

Julie still loves to perform and has enjoyed dancing in local productions. Her credits include Mrs. Stahlbaum and Mother Ginger in “Nutcracker”, the Queen in “Sleeping Beauty” and “Swan Lake”, the Ballroom Scene in “Cinderella” (Ballet Arte) and the Party Scene in “Nutcracker” (San Diego Ballet).

Julie is looking forward to her association with North County Dance Arts and the opportunity to teach the Intermediate Ballet class on Fridays.
